Elsewhere is a Raspberry Pi-based picture frame that plays livestreams from YouTube and other streaming platforms. It takes content out of a web browser and into your physical space, giving a sense of connection to somewhere else in the world, and letting you experience the cycle of the days and seasons around the world.

Design

Elsewhere has gone through many iterations over the years, from a very small proof of concept using the Adafruit PiTFT Plus 320x240 2.8" TFT, through the LG LP097QX1 iPad 3/4 Retina Display that did the rounds a while back, finally landing on the Pimoroni HDMI 10" IPS LCD Screen Kit. Early case designs were made out of cardboard, with the final design using laser-cut aluminium and American walnut, finished with gun stock oil.
