Had you spoken to me earlier today, you might have been forgiven for thinking it was the end of the world. I innocently recompiled my kernel today so as to allow me to install something and the whole thing died a horrible death!

After a reasonable amount of tweaking and a couple of very dubious leaps of faith, it seems that I now have a working system again. Since the whole thing seemed a little buggered anyhow, I took a few risks, so I have the added bonus of the official nVidia drivers and a rather more optimised kernel than Mandrake provides!
